Helminths are invertebrates characterized by elongated, flat or round bodies. Another name for Parasitic Worms.

Types of Helminths:

  • Flukes (Trematodes) Adult flukes are leaf-shaped flatworms
  • Tapeworms (Cestodes) Adult tapeworms are elongated, segmented, hermaphroditic flatworms 
  • Roundworms (Nematodes) a long round body.

Helminths have three main life-cycle stages

  • eggs
  • larvae
