Respondous Lockdown is compatible with the following Operating Systems:

Windows: 11 and 10*
Includes x86 32 and 64bit processors and ARM 64bit processors using x86 emulation.
* Lockdown is not compatible with Windows 10/11 "S mode or Windows 10/11 "SE" *

Mac: macOS 10.13 to 13.0+.

ChromeOS: LockDown Browser for Chromebook minimally requires the version of ChromeOS that Google makes available via their Long Term Support (LTS) channel. Respondus recommends keeping your Chromebook updated to the most recent version that is available 

 

Memory
Windows: 2 GB RAM (A minimum 4gb  when using a webcam.)
Mac: 2 GB RAM (A minimum 4gb  when using a webcam.)

Hard Disk Space
Windows: 200 MB of free hard disk space
Mac: 200 MB of free hard disk space

How to download Respondous

Windows or Mac

Respondus LockDown Browser can be downloaded by faculty or students from the following link (note: the link below is unique for Wiregrass Georgia Technical College):

The installation is fast and easy, and only needs to be done once (per device).

  • Once you click on the link you will arrive at the following page: 

  • A link for Windows or Mac computers are available for download. Look for the following: Do you need the Mac version? or Do you need the Windows version?

  • Click on the button labeled install now to begin the download. In the download queue on your computer, click on the downloaded app to continue the process of adding the application to your computer.

  •  Once installed, a LockDown Browser icon will appear on your desktop or start menu. (Mac users can find it in their Applications folder)

  • Once Respondus LockDown Browser is downloaded and installed on your computer, you will start the program in order to log-in to Blackboard and take your exams. Make sure that no other programs are running on your computer when you start the browser.

  • If it is your first time using Respondus LockDown Browser or if you have not done so already, it is important that you update the browser and run a system check.

The link can also be found in blackboard by clicking on the link in the upper right hand corner labeled online resources. It will take you to the following page: Wiregrass Respondus LockDown Browser. (Under computer needs click on the link to the Wiregrass Respondous Lockdown Browser).

  • On the next page click on the link labeled Official WGTC Download Link for Respondus LockDown Browser.

  • Continue the download instructions process mentioned above

Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor for Chromebooks

  • Personal Student-Owned Chromebooks - To install Respondus Lockdown Browser on your personal Chromebook:
  • Log into the Chromebook and start Google Chrome
  • Go to the Official WGTC Download Link for Respondus LockDown Browser; you will be redirected to the Chrome Web Store.
  • Note: If the LockDown Browser extension has been added to the Chromebook, students will log in to Okta/Blackboard from Google Chrome, navigate to the test, click the button to begin the test and at that time the extension will automatically launch. To verify, you will see a gray bar across the top of the screen with LockDown Browser and a padlock image in the upper-right corner.
  • From the Chrome Web Store, select “Add to Chrome” to install the LockDown Browser Extension
  • Log into your Wiregrass Blackboard and navigate to the exam that requires LockDown Browser
  • The LockDown Browser extension will be started automatically when an assessment requires it.
