Draping

Draping: the term used to describe the covering of the client's skin and clothing with a cape or barrier at the neckband for their protection

Two types of Drapes

  • Shampoo capes or wet capes: waterproof drapes made of vinyl that are used to protect the client's skin and clothing from getting wet.
  • haircutting capes or chair cloths: made of nylon or other synthetic materials. 

Types of services

  • Shampoo services: cloth towel positioned under cape and folded over the neckbnd once the cape is secure. you can also place a second towel over the cape neckline, secure with a clip, to use for blotting after shampooing.
  • Chemical Services: a cloth towel under the cape and folded over the neckband once cape is secure, followed by a towel over the cape neckline and secure with clip to provide protection from drips and solution.
  • Haircut services: includes a neck strip under and then folded over the neckband of the cape
  • Mustache/beard trim service: service requires either a neckstrip or cloth towel placed under and then folded over the neckband of the cape. 
  • Shave service: draping method to ensure a barrier between the client's skin and drape remain in place during procedure.
