Taken in Vein.The article looks at the therapeutic use of bloodletting throughout medical history. Particular focus is given to the campaign of journalist William Cobbett against physician Benjamin Rush's use of bloodletting in the 1797 yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania which killed former U.S. President George Washington.
