Preparing for Exam

Preparing for the Exam:

  • Be prepared: begin studying for your Exam way before the test date. Don't do a cramming session right before you test. Make sure you understand what the exam will test you on.

  • Get plenty of rest the night before your exam date. Eat a balanced and healthy meal prior to the exam.

  • Plan time in your day to focus on studying for the exam. Study when you are most alert. Time management is the key to any success.

  • Practice as much as possible. Find study guides and practice tests online or have someone quiz you on the information. There is a list of websites available to help with locating practice test in this libguide. When taking the practice exams look up questions you answered incorrectly and follow up by taking notes and jot down sections you need more practice with.

  • Answer the questions you know first don't waste time trying to answer difficult questions. Skip the ones you have trouble with and go back to them later.
    • Only do this step if the exam allows you to return to a question. Some exams will not let you return so make sure you answer every question.

  • Remember Your first answer is typically the best answer.  Don't change your answer unless you find an obvious error.
