Design Layout

Graphic design layout refers to the way in which we arrange the elements on a page which makes up the content of a design. The aim of layout is both to convey the message correctly and to present information in a logical, coherent way making the important elements stand out.

Components of a layout

• Balance is the visual weighting of the objects on a page. There are three types of balance: symmetrical, asymmetrical, and radial.
• Proximity is the grouping of objects on a page along with spacing as it relates to the overall scheme of the layout.
•  Alignment is simply keeping grouped objects on a line in the same plane or area of the page. Designers often use a grid system to insure page objects are perfectly aligned and spaced consistently.
• Repetition in graphic design creates a consistent look for a project or business ad. Repetition can be created by using similar color schemes, fonts, logos, or type of graphical style within your designs.
• Contrast in the context of visual design can be defined as a difference between two or more elements in a composition. This could be done by adding different size fonts, photos, or shapes to the layout. Also changing color shades from dark & light.
• White space can be described as using the empty space to highlight the rest of your layout. White space uses the empty space on a page as a design element.
